Powertech Transformers receives a contract for the supply of miniature substations from ESKOM
Powertech Transformers, a subsidiary of Powertech and the JSE listed Altron Group is pleased to announce that, a contract was entered into between PTT and Eskom for the supply of approximately 300 miniature substation units over an eighteen month period starting from 1 April 2010.

Powertech Transformers receives a contract for the supply of generator step-up transformers from ESKOM
Powertech Transformers, a subsidiary of Powertech and the JSE listed Altron Group is pleased to announce that, a contract was entered into between PTT and Eskom for the supply of 12 generator step-up transformers over a seven year period.
The contract, worth approximately R350 million, involves generator step-up transformers ranging from 130MVA 132kV to 310MVA 400kV and these units will replace existing generator step-up transformers within power stations owned by ESKOM that have come to the end of their useful life.

Powertech Transformers secures status of a Level 3 BBBEE Contributor
Powertech Transformers, a subsidiary of Powertech and the JSE listed Altron Group is pleased to announce that, in an audit conducted by independent BBBEE accreditor, Empowerdex, we secured the status of a level 3 BBBEE contributor, equivalent to an AA rating in terms of the DTI Codes.

Powertech Transformers secures Eskom contract worth R1.4 billion
Powertech Transformers, a wholly owned subsidiary of Powertech since 26 March 2008, has signed an enabling contract with Eskom for the supply of transformers across a range of sizes up to 400kV. The indicative value of the contract stands at R 1.366 billion and significantly enhances the alliance partnership with Eskom.

Yelland Control to change owernship
Power Technologies (Pty) Ltd (Powertech), a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Altron Group, and Omron Europe B.V. jointly announce the finalisation of Omron Electronics (Pty) Ltd’s business acquisition of Yelland Control from Powertech as of April 1st, 2008. Yelland Control will be integrated and then operate under the name of Omron Electronics (Pty) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Omron Europe B.V., formed on 1st May 2007. It will handle the sales and servicing of Omron control equipment in Southern Africa.

Competition Tribunal approves ABB Powertech Transformers restructuring
In October 2007, Powertech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the JSE listed Altron Group, announced their intention to buy the 50 percent shareholding that it did not own in its joint venture company ABB Powertech Transformers, from ABB South Africa for a consideration of R 320 million. The Competition Tribunal gave their unconditional approval of the transaction as of 26 March 2008, thereby satisfying the only remaining condition precedent.

Powertech consolidates its investment in Iberian Peninsula
Powertech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Altron, today announced that an agreement has been concluded to acquire the 25% minority shareholder interest held by operating management in Cables de Comunicaciones Zaragoza, Powertech’s cable manufacturing subsidiary in Zaragoza, Spain.

Powertech expands services business through acquisition of IST
Powertech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Altron, today announced its agreement to purchase IST Group (Pty) Limited (excluding its defence and nuclear division) for a purchase consideration totalling R505m. The formerly JSE-listed IST is a private company owned by management and Ethos Private Equity. Management has committed in terms of this transaction to re-invest a portion of their proceeds received from Powertech in Altron’s participating preference shares and key executives have committed to three year service agreements. The transaction is expected to be earnings enhancing at both Altron and Powertech levels.
